WHAT IS GLOBAL EDUCATION?
Global education provides knowledge about how global issues affect the everyday lives of individuals, communities, and societies, and how each of us can impact the world. In our understanding, global education encompasses citizenship education, peace education, human rights education, environmental education, and sustainable development education. Global education can be applied from kindergarten to high school and also in non-formal education, and it can be effectively integrated into various subjects in schools.
A great example of Global education is the video and comment by young authors Karis Kivi and Pilleliis Leemet from Saaremaa Gymnasium. Their comment: “Our message in the simplest terms is that we ourselves are causing the climate crisis and environmental problems through our selfish behavior. It is up to each of us to decide what kind of impact we leave on the world.”
